Help shape a cross-Canada view of provincial and territorial mineral occurrences:
A client survey for the Canadian Geoscience Knowledge Network.

This questionnaire is being circulated on behalf of the federal-provincial-territorial Canadian Geoscience Knowledge Network (CGKN) mineral deposits subproject. The sub-project is now studying client needs, requirements and consequences of enabling a consistent cross-Canada view of abbreviated mineral deposit databases maintained by individual provinces and territories on their own premises through a single CGKN Internet portal. This view would not supplant the provincial or territorial databases, and would not contain all information in those databases.

The purpose of the questionnaire is to gather information about users of Canadian provincial and territorial mineral deposit databases and whether the single portal access will benefit them. It will be used to identify client priorities in data access, content, and delivery. The survey does not constitute a promise to deliver everything you prioritize: some of the information topics are currently missing or inconsistently captured in some databases. Redress could be costly and may not be warranted. However, the survey will provide us with information goals to work toward over the long term.

  9. Please answer the following questions to help us evaluate your preferences.

  10. Would access through a single Internet portal providing consistently organized and attributed views of abbreviated provincial and territorial databases be useful to you ? Please indicate level of usefulness on a scale of 1 to 5, where "1" = least useful, "5" = most useful, and "n/o" = no opinion
